Hello and welcome

The Wildflower Cafe is an independent cafe nestled in the old cattle yard at Saddlescombe Farm, which is a National Trust site on the South Downs Way, with great circular walks from the cafe offering stunning views in every direction. We serve a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes prepared daily in our kitchen using fresh, seasonal, and when possible, local ingredients. Our food is best described as food for the soul. Come and enjoy this unique and historical setting, and treat yourself to our savoury dishes, homemade cakes and choice of hot and cold drinks. Well behaved dogs are of course very welcome.

Please note that whilst we do not have any customer parking at the cafe, there is a free car park across the road from the farm entrance. Alternatively there is pay and display parking at Devil’s Dyke, which is only a 10 minute walk away, and free to National Trust members.

Stumbled across this gem of place doing a bike ride along The South Downs Way. We were riding Electric bikes, and had been turned down charging from the local pub on hill, and a few other places. The lovely owner couldnt have been more helpful, and despite being busy found an extension lead, and we got all 3 bikes fully charged again.
The bonus was the excellent food & drink
and meeting Bob the Chicken
If you are walking /cycling the SDW or just want a really friendly family farm cafe to stop at - this is the place

Beautiful little cafe van/area, outside with covered part. We had two delicious meals, there falafel bowl and Welsh rarebit, so tasty. Then had a lovely walk around Saddlescombe Farm (national trust) .

Absolutely lovely wee place to stop on our walk, it felt very peaceful, the staff were really friendly, and all the food looked great. In a few days of walking along the South Downs way this was my favourite place that we stopped for a rest ☺️

Beautiful little outdoor cafe with chickens running about and excellent food with good vegan options.

I had a very tasty veg samosa (the mango chutney was excellent) and a sag aloo soup with spinach bread, all of which was superb.

Also very good coffee, great service, and vegan cakes. 7 stars.

Truly magical experience, the tastiest breakfast in ages. It's like visiting your best friends, lovely ladies who go out of their way to help, nothing is too much trouble, the atmosphere is relaxing, vintage, rustic and homely. Park on the Dyke side and watch out crossing the road!

Absolutely gorgeous little courtyard
cafe next to an old barn at the National Trust’s Saddlescombe Farm property. Delicious veggie and vegan dishes. Yummy cakes. Huge range of herbal teas. It’s the most beautiful setting and an ideal stop off point for walkers on the Downs. Note you can’t park at the farm but there is a small car park on the other side of the road. Highly recommend.

Lovely cafe. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly. Not ideal if the weather is bad but they have made a wonderful seating despite not having an indoor space. It's very quiet and peaceful. Also there's no annoying and noisy music which automatically puts it above 90% of cafes in my book. Will be coming back here in summer for sure.

The only (very small) complaint is that the roaming chickens were a bit of a nuisance pecking my bag.

Just a delightful little cafe nestled in the valley below Devils Dyke. Surrounded by old farm building this has the perfect amount of quirk and charm. And the apple cake was delicious.

Dropped by for coffee and snack which was delicious ...lovely atmosphere surroundings after first half of walk from Devils dyke so it was refreshing and restful ..such a beautiful tranquil quaint cafe served from a converted caravan with shelter on one side of original farm etc .my only slight niggle was we thought the coffee was very nice but on the small cup size feel should've been a little under priced ..similar cafes we've frequented do bigger cups for similar slightly cheaper cost...all in all it was worth the visit though I'd think again for the small americano coffee

The Wildflower Café is an absolute gem tucked away at Saddlescombe Farm. The food is brilliant — the Welsh rarebit is honestly one of the best I’ve ever had: rich, perfectly toasted, and full of flavour.

They’ve also got a great selection of cakes, all homemade and properly delicious, plus plenty of drinks. The setting is lovely too, peaceful and surrounded by countryside, with plenty of outdoor seating.

A perfect stop after a walk on the Downs. Great food, friendly people, and a cosy atmosphere — highly recommend.

Have enjoyed going to this outdoor cafe for some years & I love both the peaceful courtyard location & the good food. Their spinach bread is particularly lovely & you can buy a loaf to take away if available.

So much more than a cafe; the food is delicious, thoughtful and energising. Saddlescombe is surrounded by the best walks on the Downs, and there's a free car park a few minutes walk away on the road to the top of the Dyke. Can't see anything to impove.

It was our first time here,, so sweet, quaint, quiet, and delicious wholefood menu!
Being Vegan and vegetarian, it's really important to be able to eat from somewhere like this. The food was incredibly tasty, great coffee, husband had a delicious carrot cake, and there were dog treats for our dog.
The surroundings were beautiful.
We will definitely be going back!

Fantastic cafe with seemingly everything homemade and tasty. Makes a welcome change from a lot of museum/visitor cafes which only sell packaged stuff. Definitely recommend - probably the best stop on this stage of SDW.
